Writing is one of the mediums she works in, not a sideline

In her words

Art was the hobby first

Jessica has loved art her whole life, in every form she could get her hands on. As a teenager she broke up art tiles and made mosaics out of them. She is a published poet.

The creative process has always been cathartic for her — writing something fictional most of all, because fiction lets you express things you might not be able to say straight, and find perspectives you had not seen before.

She served in the United States Army, and she has lived with PTSD. She is open about that because it is part of why this work matters to her: making something, backed by music, with very little guidance, has given her an emotional release again and again — even when that was not what she set out for.

You are autonomous. You do not have to conform to everything, and you do not have to make art in order to make something beautiful.

The reason

Why she runs it this way

The whole process of creation — especially backed by music, especially without somebody directing it — is what she wants other people to get their hands on.

Getting back to your roots. Finding out what you like and what you do not. Seeing that you can just create, and that whatever comes out has something of you in it.
